What should we have before starting lessons?

What should we have before starting lessons?

Drums:

For drums, all you’ll need is a practice pad and a pair of sticks.  Before moving on to a full drum set, students start off by building up their hand technique.  You won’t have to consider getting a drum set until the student has had several months of training, and the teacher says they’re ready to move on to set playing.

Flute, Violin, Viola, & Cello

These students should own/rent an instrument to practice on and use during lessons.  Waddell’s has a rental program for most band & orchestra instruments.

Piano:

Piano students don’t have to have an actual piano when they first start off.  Instead, a less expensive keyboard will suffice for learning basics and practicing.  However, after about 2 years of playing, we’d recommend switching to an actual piano or a digital piano with weighted keys.

Guitar & Bass:

All guitar and bass students will need to bring their instruments with them to their lesson.  We have a good supply of inexpensive beginner instruments and accessories.  For more information on prices, call us at 724-934-1090
